Here is a short video by Les Brown. Here how his persistance paid off in his first dream to be a radio DJ. Les is a very powerful speaker and I'm sure you will enjoy this.
How to use traffic exchanges for your business

Traffic exchanges are simply programs whereby you surf and visit other web sites and in exchange you get credits so others will view your site. They are free to join and use, although you have the option of paying to buy extra credits which in turn means you can spend less time surfing.
The amount of time you have to spend visiting each site to get credits varies, but I don't recommend using any that are less than 20 seconds. If it's 10 or 15 seconds it doesn't really even give the visitor enough time to see if the site they are viewing will get their attention.
Also I suggest using only lead capture pages or affilate offers of products that will help people build a business, since most people who use the exchanges already have a business, but many of them are quite new to internet marketing and are looking for ways to get help making money. So a lead capture page that addresses this is the most effective way to go.
My favorite exchange is Traffic Swarm. The amount of credits you get there varies most of the time between 1 and 5 for each web site you view, but sometimes you will get 50 credits and I've even got up to 500.
Also with Traffic Swarm you get to write a description of your offer, and people choose to click on your site, rather than it appearing randomly which is the case with a lot of other exchanges. So the traffic you get is somewhat more targetted this way.
So although I would not suggest you spend a lot of time on traffic exchanges, they still serve a good purpose for finding more leads as you build your list.

Why you should promote your own MLM online
Yesterday I attended a webinar by Ferny Ceballos which gave me new insight into marketing your own network marketing company. Ferny talked about the importance of getting your own name ranked on google (which I've blogged about recently also) but he went further from there and explained also why you need to be ranked for your particular opportunity.
The reason for this is when someone goes on Google looking for company ABC, and you are in that business, you want those people to find your content. Anyone who searches for a specific company is one of the best leads you can get. They already know something about it and are investigating more. Possibly they may have gone to a meeting in the past but want to learn how to market their business using online methods rather than offline. Or they may have heard something about the products the company has.
In any event, this is the best traffic you can get.
Now there is a right way and wrong way of doing this. The wrong way is to lead with a company replicated web site. These serve a good purpose, but only after the prospect has gotten to know you from your blog, video, or from your newsletter after they have signed up on your list.
Instead of a replicated web site there are several things you can do to rank for your own network marketing company. You can do a press release to announce new product launches, write articles and link back to your blog in the resource box, do videos, and/or a blog specific about your company. You should also be writing about your company related terms, such as products you market, any particular marketing system that company may have, or anything else particular to that business. The most important thing to keep in mind is you want to be an information resource for your company and its products, don't make a blatant sales pitch.
Since people who are searching google for your particular network marketing company are much closer to the joining stage rather than just browsers, you want to position yourself as a leader and they are much less likely to join someone else.
Just one word of caution about this. Be sure to check your network marketing company's policies regarding marketing on the internet. Some MLMs forbid the use of their names in any online advertising. So you don't want to do this, only to find out you can't. Personally I think any company that has this policy is way behind the times, however, I know of at least two that don't allow it.
Also remember that any content you have that is company specific should not be promoted directly on social networking sites, rather you want to brand yourself as a leader and as someone who actively engages others on these sites. Instead you want to send them to a video, article, or blog that is more generic in nature.
Promoting your business upfront such as what Ferny Ceballos taught in the webinar is for people doing actual google searches on your company, or for those prospects who found you first, and after learning about you they check to see what company you are with. It's not meant to replace generic network marketing training, which will give you more credibility with others as you share good educational content.

Failure is the path to success
Have you ever enrolled someone you thought would be the next superstar in your network marketing business, only to have them quit a month later? Or maybe a super hot prospect that you call back and they never answer the phone?
Maybe you have been in a few weeks and haven't sponsored anyone yet and wonder if it's worth it.
The truth is..... set backs can and do happen..... but winners don't let it stop them. Winners learn the skills necessary to build a successful network marketing business, whether it be online or offline, and if one strategy isn't working for them they tweak it.... get advice from a more experienced marketer and move on.
Because we will make mistakes, but the key is to learn from them... and especially to not get attached to your prospects and leads by learning how to generate so many over time (as you learn the skills and implement them) that it doesn't matter to you.
History shows that many of the world's extremely successful people "failed" over and over again. Thomas Edison is one of the most prolific inventors ever, but it wasn't always that way. One of his famous quotes is this: I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." How is that for tenacity and never giving up?
As strange is it may sound, I really believe that failure is the path to success, as long as we learn from it and don't make excuses to quit.
Jordan Alder is an extremely successful network marketer, but it wasn't always that way. In fact, he spent 10 years of his life, going from company to company and never sponsoring a single soul.
That's right. TEN YEARS. It was when he joined his 11th network marketing company after 10 years that he found the success he so badly wanted all that time.
How many people would last even a year if they had not sponsored anyone into their business? I would say the percentage is very, VERY small.
Now that there is so much training available for network marketers online and offline.... and an emphasis on personal development.... people can become successful in a very short time.... but even if it takes one year, or two or more... isn't it worth it in the long run?
Absolutely it is! And if you know anyone in your company who is making a six figure income.... so can you! Believe you can, learn the skills and most importantly.... take the right action.
You will never be sorry you did, but you will almost surely regret you didn't.

Building a presence online quickly for your network marketing business

If you are marketing your network marketing company online and generating leads, here is one important thing to know. Before people decide to join your company or buy whatever it is you are recommending, they will often do a search on you.... they will google your name to learn more about you, and determine if you are someone they may want to work with.
That is one reason why you should have a domain that is your name. If you have a very common name or one that is already taken, you may choose something like "whoisjanesmith" or "workwithjanesmith".... something along those lines, but one that will brand YOU.
Likewise I also suggest using your own name on social networking sites like twitter or Facebook. It's more professional to use your name rather than something cute or not business oriented.... plus it will help people find you when they do a google check.
If you google my name, Joanne Ott, you can see some of my ezine articles, my twitter profile, blog, and much more.
People will be able to find your videos if you have made any, hub pages, squidoo, etc. You want to not only join Twitter and Facebook but actively engage and have good content. All these things will increase your credibility with others.
You can build your online presence quickly on social networking, with videos, articles, etc by being very focused and creating the content that is valuable and helpful to others.
On your "about me" page that you have on the various sites you can link back to others.... for example anyone who views my ezine articles bio can link to my social networking sites and my blogs. This can improve your search engine rankings.
When you have a good online presence using the above tools, it will really allow your prospect to get to know you, as it establishes you as a serious marketer and leader who can really help them reach their goals.

Build relationships first.... it's not about your company

One of the first things I learned about using the internet to build a business was the first priority is to build relationships with people who subscribe to your newsletter, or those you get to know on social networking sites. One of the fastest ways to destroy credibility is to send someone a message saying something like "thanks for adding me, here is my web site."
Now the person doesn't know you.... so why should they care about your network marketing business? A much better approach would be just something simple like "hi, thanks for adding me" and maybe adding something personal, like "I see you like cats also" if that is on their profile, or something similar.
This is how relationships can get started and built. If you went to a party and met someone for the first time, you wouldn't immediately start talking to them about your business (at least I hope not!) so why do people think they can do this on social networking sites?
This doesn't work because the person doesn't know you, there is no trust built yet so why should they work with you?
To build relationships on Twitter, it's much better to interact with others who have similar interests, retweet things from time to time that you like, and be sure to thank others who have retweeted any of your content. I think it's fine to post your videos, blog posts and other personal content from time to time, but you want to be sure it's content that will help others, and not just be a blatant sales pitch to your network marketing business. It not only looks spammy but tells other markerters the person doing that is an amateur or else lazy in their marketing.
It's called SOCIAL networking for a reason! Just be authentic and yourself, as the book How to win friends and influence people teaches.... when we are interested in others, they will be interested in us. That is genuine and sincere interest.
Sometimes I think people get so caugh up on getting to 20,000 followers on Twitter, or 5,000 on Facebook, that they forget those numbers are meaningless if no one is listening. And it's great to just have some fun as well. One of the reasons I like Facebook so much is the ability to post videos, not only our own videos but fun thing we may find on youtube or other sites. I enjoy seeing these and my experience has been when I post them others do as well.
I've met some great people on social networking sites, network marketing forums, etc and have sponsored this way as well. It's a great strategy I recommend, but it takes some time. Build a reputation as someone who offers value to the community you are in and it can be very profitable to you.

Great Quotes Today
I came across a great quote on Twitter today that really says it all about perserverance and never giving up.
Never Give In. "Fired from a newspaper because he lacked imagination and had no original ideas" That person happened to be Walt Disney.
Walt Disney obviously didn't let failure like that stop him at all. He was not an overnight success, but when success came to him it was a remarkable story. Because of his talents and gifts and never giving up he made many lives richer. Using his great imagination he has entertained millions with his movies and, of course, Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. To me Disneyland is a place that anyone, regardless of age, can have a wonderful time. I was in my 20s the first time I visited. It's ageless.
Walt Disney had some great quotes too, one favorite of mine is "if you can dream it, you can do it." And "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
Another: "All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you."
I often post quotes on my Facebook and Twitter stream, and retweet what others have posted when they are favorites of mine. Most people love reading positive and encouraging quotes, and it's interesting how certain ones seem to appear at just the time we need them.
What are some of your favorite quotes?
Joanne
