I'm sure all of us would agree that in order to be successful in network marketing we not only need the right marketing skills, but the right attitude. Virtually every successful person makes personal development a priority. The books we read, the CDs we listen to, and the people we spend time with all can have a positive impact.
With this in mind, I've got two book reviews below. The first one, Beach Money, is written by a guy who failed in many companies and took many years to find the massive success he now has. The second book, the Slight Edge, is perfect for anyone who wants to get more out of life and be the type of person we know we can be. I will add more reviews as time goes on here.
Review of Beach Money
I recently read the book Beach Money by Jordan Alder, and this is my review on his excellent book.
It's titled that because of his desire to build a business which would continue to pay him month after month, even if he was spending time at the beach.
Jordan definitely wasn't an overnight success in network marketing. In fact he failed with one company after another. Personally I find the "rags to riches" stories more appealing than the ones where people reached a really high rank with their company in six months. I think Jordan's story is one many network marketers can relate to. He's very honest about his struggles and how long it took him to finally break through.
Jordan writes his book as if he was talking to you personally. He makes you realize he was just an ordinary guy with extraordinary dreams.
Of course Jordan now lives a life style that many dream about, but aren't determined enough to keep at it no matter how hard things may get. He explains exactly how things changed for him.
He gives many examples of events that happened in his life, both good and bad, and really makes you believe that you too can do it. He also discusses strategies for building wealth so you can enjoy that beach money when you take massive action and believe you can do it.
Reading this book can help propel your business forward, and it will inspire you. I believe it is a great addition to the personal development library for every network marketer.
Review of The Slight Edge
The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson is a great book for your personal development library.
This book will challenge your current thinking and philosophy towards life. It is about how you can change your life, and how "The Slight Edge" can have an amazing impact over time.
Jeff explains very simply how one can take control of every aspects of one's life right away. This includes relationships, spiritual, financial, health and beliefs. He explains exactly what "The Slight Edge" it is and how it can affect our lives. We are using this every day whether we realize it or not, and its either working for or against you.
One example could be deciding to not exercise today. It's easy to skip a day just because I don't feel like it. Will it make a difference today? No. Will it make a difference over time? Yes. And that is "The Slight Edge." If I continually don't exercise, I will get out of shape, perhaps gain weight, and be at more risk for health problems.
Simple decisions we make every day either impact in a negative way, out of shape and overweight, or a positive, I feel better and am making a decision to be pro-active about my health. It's really so simple and can have dramatic effect over time.
Jeff gives several examples where you can improve your life and the positive results in easily understood steps and how you can easily incorporate these into regular routines.
Jeff discusses goals and how making the decision to actually begin is the difference between just thinking about it and actually getting started. We shouldn't be afraid of failure as it will ultimately lead to success if we remember "The Slight Edge" and keep doing those actions day after day repeatedly over time.
This book is easy to read and you probably will find once you get started you won't be able to put it down. It needs to be read over and over. I highly recommend it and believe it's a book that has changed many lives, if people put into practice what Jeff recommends.
